Joan Schwegel Joins ALIGNED
Andrew Clark, President and CEO is pleased to announce that Joan Schwegel has joined ALIGNED Insurance. Appointed as Finance Manager, Joan Schwegel, CAIB, RIBO, reports directly to Andrew Clark and is based in ALIGNED’s National Operations Centre in Waterloo, Ontario.
With more than two decades of experience in the insurance industry, Joan now leads all accounting functions. She’s responsible for helping ALIGNED advocates deliver valued insights, expert support and best insurance products and solutions to more than 1,400 clients across Canada.
After graduating with an Honours BA in Economics from the University of Waterloo, Joan set her sights on the insurance industry. She took an accounting role with a local brokerage and quickly immersed herself in learning all about insurance.
Over the years, Joan has become a ‘go to’ professional resource for several insurance brokerages. In addition to accounting, she’s supported sales and service and is also a seasoned expert when it comes to operations. Her most recent focus was personal lines insurance. Joan noted that, “Joining ALIGNED allows me the chance to work with a growing firm that’s focused on business insurance and risk management…an exciting change of pace as well as a great opportunity to grow and learn.”

It was at a Waterloo industry event that Joan first met Andrew Clark. She was intrigued to hear about ALIGNED’s unique fee-for-service model and 18 points of differentiation. Joan shared, “Andrew has some very innovative ideas. I was drawn to the opportunity to be part of an expanding group of professionals. I also liked the education provided in the e-newsletters that ALIGNED distributes every month.”
Joan shared, “Insurance is a big part of everyone’s lives, without it we could not invest and take the risks of home and business ownership that we do.”
With offices in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver as well as a national operations centre in Cambridge, Ontario, ALIGNED is in growth mode, most recently acquiring a firm that was founded in 1998 by the merger of three well-established brokerage firms with roots that go back to 1912.
